The Antinori family first produced this wine in 1978, with an initial blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and a smaller percentage of Cabernet Franc. In the following vintages, except in 1979, Sangiovese was incorporated into the 'coupage'. As it is now, this wine is an amazing show that hits all the senses. It forces you to keep your attention on it until the bottle is finished.
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon 75%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Sangiovese 20%
Alcoholic degree: 14% Vol.
Service temperature: 16 ºC and 18 ºC
Solaia 2014 presents an intense cherry red color. Its aroma is dense, complex and full of varietal aromatics and fruity sensations that include hints of cherry, black cherry, ripe red berries, leading to a finish of licorice, coffee and sweet toast. In the mouth the tannins are soft and well balanced. The full-bodied, but soft mineral wine, at the end of the tasting draws sweet notes of cocoa, vanilla and red and black fruits. Intense and persistent.
