Marques de Riscal Reserve. 2018
Marques de Riscal Reserve.
The Marqués de Riscal Reservas are basically made from grapes from Tempranillo variety vines planted before the 1970s, located on the best clay-calcareous soils of the Rioja Alavesa. This variety supports aging in wood and bottle aging well thanks to its good acid balance and its fine tannins. The Graciano variety, whose percentage in the mix does not exceed 10%, provides freshness and vividness of color. The Riscal reservas remain for approximately two years in American oak barrels, configuring a wine that fits within the canons of Riojan classicism, fresh, fine, elegant and with great aging potential. Before going on the market, it has a minimum period of refinement in the bottle of one year.
Grape: Tempranillo and Graciano
Alcoholic degree: 14.5% Vol.
Serving temperature: between 16 and 18 °C.
Marqués de Riscal Reserva is a very covered cherry-colored wine. It is very expressive on the nose, with notes of cinnamon and black pepper, where the long aging in wood is well blended, thanks to its great complexity and concentration of ripe fruit. On the palate it is fresh, with polished tannins and good structure. The finish on the palate is long and leaves some slight balsamic memories of great quality.
