Marquis de Riscal XR
Many years ago, in Marqués de Riscal, there were winery wines, within its Historical Reserve, such as Reserva Medoc and Xr, without actually being trade names. At that time, the winemaker marked with chalk some of the barrels where he found exceptional qualities with the word XR (Extra Reserve), which he did not see in others. This custom lasted for almost a century, between the 1869 and 1964 vintages. This XR was never marketed until the 2015 vintage, when it was decided to honor the Cellar Masters who, from Jean Pineau to the present day, have contributed to forging part of the best History of Spanish wine in Marqués de Riscal.
Grape: Tempranillo and Graciano
Alcoholic degree: 14.5% Vol.
Serving temperature: between 16 and 18 °C.
Wine of intense cherry color. On the nose we find notes of licorice, cinnamon and black pepper, where the long aging in wood is hardly noticeable, thanks to its great complexity and concentration of ripe fruit. On the palate it is fresh, with polished tannins, very pleasant, with a good structure but easy to drink. The end on the palate is long and leaves some slight balsamic memories of great quality.
