Ramon Bilbao Crianza 2018

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao was born in 1924, a family winery passed down from generation to generation until 1966, when the last descendant of the family died. It was in 1971 when the new facilities were built in the town of Haro under a new ownership.

In 1999 Diego Zamora SA acquired the winery, one of the largest beverage distribution groups in Spain and which began a program to modernize and update the winery and its facilities.

The winery received the prize for the best winery in Spain in 2014, as an award for its long career, at the "International Wine & Spirit Competition" in London.

The vineyard of this winery is spread over 7 different locations: Haro, Briones, Cihuri, San Vicente de Sonsierra, Abalos, Anguciana and Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón. All of them represent a total of 75 hectares owned by the winery, to which are added the vineyards owned by farmers in the area and which also supply the Ramón Bilbao winery.

The winery is located in Haro and occupies a total of 7,000 hectares, surrounded by its own vineyard. For the fermentation and maceration processes of the wine, the winery has stainless steel tanks with temperature control and where the wines are manually punched and pumped over.

The barrel room where the wines age is divided into three different buildings, where the winery has a total of 15,000 French and American oak barrels with a maximum age of 5 years.

Bottling takes place in the central building, which also serves as a warehouse and offices. In addition, the winery has a wine cellar and tasting room, which makes it one of the most visited wineries in La Rioja and a key point for wine tourism in Spain.

One of the key points of Ramón Bilbao Crianza is the separate fermentation of each payment and the final assembly of the wines before aging and in each of the rackings. A classic Rioja, renewed, balanced and versatile.

In the mouth it is intense, with medium acidity, integrated tannins and medium body. In retronasal black fruit and aromas of wood are perceived. With harmony, balanced and ready for consumption.

It is perfect with white meats, medium-cured cheeses and tapas.
