Chateau Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton-Rothschild (ACO Pauillac) breaks with the Bordeaux tradition and decides, in 1924, to bottle its wines on the property, instead of the merchants in the city of Bordeaux. He managed to change the 1855 classification for the only time and Mouton, who started as the first of the seconds, was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1973. In 1924 the first great Mouton label was born, designed by Jean Carlu. On the occasion of the liberation of France, in 1945, he entrusted the young painter Phillippe Julian with a painting, to be reproduced on the label, revolving around the "V" for victory. From that moment on, and with the sole exception of 1953, the centenary of the purchase of Mouton by his family, and 1977, the visit of the Queen of England to the cellars, every year a prestigious painter creates an exclusive painting for the labels.

Tasting note:

Château Mouton Rothschild is a dense, opaque colour, almost black, with a very attractive shine. The nose, refined, complex and expressive, blends black fruit with aromas of currant and crushed blackberry, opening up to show more complex notes of cigar box and spices. The attack is sumptuously full and substantial. The tannins are ripe and crisp, wrapped in a beautiful, dense and firm body that reveals chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, the wine displays an untamed style that leads to an absolutely precious, fresh, intense and mineral finish.
