The Balvenie Stories 14 The Week of Peat

The Balvenie Stories collection is designed to bring to life the tales of "character, effort and craft" of those at Balvenie through the generations. Peat Week is inspired by the tradition, started in 2002, of distilling peat malt for just one week a year. Eager to experiment with the profile of The Balvenie using what he had learned on a recent trip to Islay, distillery manager Ian Millar ordered a batch of Speyside peat for the kiln. For one week a year, The Balvenie distills a batch of peated malt, resulting in a whiskey rich with honey, vanilla and citrus notes with an extra layer of delicate smokiness.

Alcoholic degree: 40% Vol.

Bottle: 70cl.

Tasting note:

On the nose there is smooth sweet peat smoke, lighter floral notes and a delicate caramel honey. The palate is velvety and round with peat smoke balancing citrus flavors, oak vanilla and flower honey. It leads to a smooth smoke finish with a lingering, creamy vanilla sweetness.
